Rev. Addo
Yeboah is a pastor at the Trinity Methodist church in Cape Coast. In an
interview with Skery Spark Talk’s host on Yes fm 102.9fm, he disclosed that
Ofori Amponsah depended on his popularity to open his church.
Talking
about Ofori Amponsah’s u-turn to secular music, he explained that there are
several ways for people to be called to serve God. He said for someone to turn
back away from God then it will mean he/she likes what he was in before turning
to God. He further added that Ofori Amponsah used his popularity to open a
church.
“Ofori
Amponsah probably used his popularity to open a church; he feels that he is
famous so if he opens a church he will get a whole of people to maybe follow
him. But you can’t associate this with Christianity. You can’t bring worldly
things along. Well, he has established a church, he has got people to follow
him but I don’t believe that the people are worshiping him, they are worshiping
Jesus Christ.” He added.
He also said
that the ministry is not only about being a pastor. “We have all being giving
gifts which can be used to win souls for Christ, Ofori Amponsah is a good
singer, and he can use his voice to sing gospel songs to win souls for Christ.
May what he was into before singing a gospel song has influenced him to go back
to secular music” he said
“I’m pleading
with Ghanaians not to say things to dampen the spirit of our brother. He should
make sure not to follow the things of the world because the world and it
pleasures will pass away but the word of God will be there forever. I will tell
all Christians that what God wants for us is to change and look for him so
whatever situation that we are in we should hold on because Lord will come soon
and our struggle will not be in vain” Rev Addo Yeboah said.
