RitaBeatz: The Gospel Drummer Breaking Barriers in Kumasi

Youth Rising – May 13, 2025 In the heart of Kumasi, 19-year-old Rita Nyarko, known as RitaBeatz, is transforming the sound of Ghanaian gospel music. While many girls in her neighborhood chose singing, Rita found her passion behind the drums.

Starting at just 11 years old in her church, she quickly mastered traditional rhythms and fused them with modern gospel beats. Her unique style has caught fire online, with her TikTok and Instagram videos gaining thousands of views. But Rita isn't only performing—she's mentoring. Every weekend, she offers free drumming lessons to young girls, encouraging them to embrace instruments often dominated by men. > “Girls can do more than sing—we can lead the rhythm,” she says. With plans to open a youth music academy in the Ashanti Region, RitaBeatz is not just keeping the beat—she’s building a movement. omegaGEradio
