Youth Spotlight – May 13, 2025
“from Madina, Accra. While studying environmental science at the University of Ghana, Ama noticed how plastic waste choked her community’s drains. Instead of complaining, she turned it into a mission. Using a simple machine she developed with her classmates, Ama recycles plastic into eco-friendly bricks for low-cost housing.
Today, her startup, EcoBuild Ghana, employs five young people and has built two prototype classrooms in rural areas using these plastic bricks. Ama says, “Our waste is our resource. We just need the mindset to reshape it.”
She’s proof that youth are not just tomorrow’s leaders—they’re today’s changemakers.
