On skery
spark talk with PaKay De Skery on Yes 102.9 fm, the legend Gyedu Blay Ambulley was
celebrated. He enlightened more on the current trend of music saying that the
artistes now follow the foreign style of songs instead of the highlife
originated from Ghana. “The youth now a days like the cheap side because of
that when anyone makes music outside they copy the same thing, instead of them
to be creative” he said.
Ambulley
recently came out that Obour has failed musicians as the MUSIGA president. He
added that government gave Obour two million Ghana cedis and if they had used
the money well it would have helped many musicians in Ghana. “The old musicians
are dying, when they die and you go to their funerals it is very sad because
there are no proper structures to help them when they are sick and to even say
they should go to the hospital, it is not there. Children coming up are not
taught music or anything; MUSIGA could have organized workshops or seminars to
train those coming up for them to know how things are” he explained.
The
renowned hiplife musician then said that Obour is just a rapper and doesn’t
know a lot about music. “Obour is just a rapper, it hasn’t been long since he
became a musician, he doesn’t know chord or c chord or C minor chord, why
should he become the president of the union and if he becomes the president of
the union what does he know?, because he doesn’t know the rhythms in Ghana, the
Ewes and the northern he doesn’t know its value, the music in Ghana now has
turned upside down. The structures in the union should be established well to
benefit musicians” he added.
