SENIOR HIGH SCHOOLS YET TO RECEIVE FUNDS FOR FREE SHS

The conference head of Assisted Secondary School (CHASS) says it has not yet receive any funds and logistics to start the free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

Psalm Gyebi, the general secretary of CHASS speaking to the media said, although various Senior High School across the country are ready, the lack of funds may stall effort to roll out the programme.

"we were promised that about two weeks to reopening about 20% of the money will be sent but I don't think any money has hit any account. Now all headmasters are at conference, perhaps by the time we come back the money will be in the account" he said.

Over 420,000 students will start academic work next week to kick start the implementation of the government's flagship free SHS policy.

Government will foot all bills from feeding, school fees and other charges under this policy.

According to Mr. Gyebi, they are expecting Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum the Deputy Minister of Education at their conference this week, perhaps he could explain things to them.

However, Dr .Osei Adutwum who is in charge of SHS education says even though there are hitches in the process to roll out the programme, the ministry is generally "close to the finish line'' begging what is largely the biggest.
